DataHub’s UI is Getting a Makeover
The team at Acryl Data has been rapidly rolling out improvements to the DataHub UI since the beginning of 2021, mainly focused on replacing the legacy Ember app with React. Now that we have reached functional parity between the two, we’re turning our focus to making improvements to user experience.
Let’s get you up to speed on what John Joyce shared at the August DataHub Town Hall!
First Up: Improved UI for Dataset Entities
I think we can all agree that datasets are a *pretty big deal* in the metadata & data catalog scene, so that’s where we started.
You can find the following improvements to Dataset Entities in v0.8.12 :
→ Improved schema navigation for nested elements

→ New side panel gives an “entity at a glance” view to quickly find details about the dataset including useful links, high-level usage stats, ownership, and more

→ Is your Dataset documentation getting stale? The new inline editor makes it easy to update and maintain your docs to keep them fresh

What to Expect in Upcoming Months
The Acryl Data team will be rolling out improvements to the UI piece by piece, including:
- Refreshing the look and experience of chart, dashboard, task & pipeline entities
- Improvements to the search & browse experiences
- Smarter recommendations on the Homepage
- Dark Mode (!!!)
